Nurturing creativity, courage, and capacity to advance social change.
The Power & Protect Operations Network (PON) strengthens operational capacity in order to expand bold work, in compliance, while protecting infrastructure, organizations, and people.
Operational leaders need training, investment, and support to grow their careers and expertise with confidence. Groups on the ground need to establish the right blend of multi-entity structures, programs, and operations to ensure progress towards their missions. State ecosystems and networks need to develop shared operations to innovate strategies and manage risks. PON’s strategic initiatives are designed to ensure resilient, competent multi-entity operations, infrastructure, and talent for organizations to achieve positive impact.
PON helps organizations find creative operations solutions to achieve their missions effectively, safely, and in compliance. PON is a multi-entity organization working with core partners, The Capacity Shop and the Center for Empowered Politics Education Fund, along with program partner Bolder Advocacy (a program of the Alliance for Justice).
About PON →
“Organizations have been operating as fish instead of a school of fish. PON's focus on how to support the [whole] … and PON being visionary and figuring out ways to steer the ship together, is something I've valued and been looking for for years.”
— Multi-entity operations service provider
“Part of what’s compelling about PON is being able to address both [rapid response and long-term] needs in a way that’s supportive of the leaders in each organization, and investing in those leaders who will be there to build long term when the time is right. ‘Invest in infrastructure’ means investing in the people who lead that infrastructure.”
— Civil society and leadership funder
“If you care about your grantee partners and a safe and thriving civic space and civil society, you need to invest in this nonsexy stuff. Without operations and infrastructure none of this happens.”
— Civil society and leadership funder
“As a Director of Operations in a multi-entity movement organization, I often feel isolated and siloed. Most program staff don't understand my work or find it intimidating. Much of my work is confidential until it isn't. Knowing that we can support one another has given me a new energy and optimism for this important work."
— Operations leader
